Coroner's office IDs man killed by Meridian Police

MERIDIAN, Idaho (KBOI) - One man is dead after four officers were involved in a shooting at the Wilson Lane Apartments Monday night.

Just before midnight officers were called out to the complex for a suspicious looking person. Investigators say the incident happened just outside the man's apartment.

Meridian Police said Tuesday a short time after officers arrived in the parking lot of the apartment complex they were confronted by a man holding an edged weapon.

Officers yelled to the man to drop the weapon but he did not, Meridian PD says, and instead moved toward the officers in a manner that "caused the officers to fear for their safety."

All four officers fired their weapons. On Tuesday, the Ada County Coroner's office identified the suspect has 38-year-old Eric O. Dilworth of Meridian. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Because the shooting involved officers the Critical Incident Task Force has been activated to help investigate with Boise PD taking the lead. The task force consist of detectives from several different departments.
