Coroner identifies woman killed on Chinden

STAR, Idaho - The Ada County Coroner's Office has identified the woman who was killed after getting hit by a vehicle late Saturday night on Chinden.

The Coroner identified the woman as 41-year-old Deirdre Kay Shepherd of Boise. She died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Police had believed Shepherd was in her mid-20s.

At about midnight Saturday, police say, a driver called 911 and said she had hit a female who had stepped out onto the road directly in front of her vehicle.

The 24-year-old woman said she was driving west on Chinden east of Star when a person, waving her arms, walked out in front of her vehicle. The driver told police she did not see the woman until just before the moment of impact and was unable to avoid hitting her.

Shepherd was located a few feet off the road and was later pronounced dead.
