Cold weather hinders crews battling house fire in Emmett

EMMETT, Idaho (KBOI) - Firefighters responded to a house fire in Emmett Friday night that did serious damage, but they are not sure yet if it's a total loss.

It happened at a residence near 7th Street and Johns Avenue just after 8:30 pm. Fire fighters say the blaze started in the attic of the house. Crews from 5 nearby agencies responded, but the cold weather did hinder fire fighters efforts. Crews say they had problems with freezing houses, air tanks, and radios.

Even with the issues from the cold crews were able to knock down the fire before it could do more damage. the exact cause is still under investigation.

Eight people were living in the home, and they all got out in time. Even though no serious injuries were reported one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
