Child on bicycle taken to hospital after getting hit by vehicle

KUNA, Idaho (KBOI) -- A child has been taken to the hospital after getting hit by a vehicle in Kuna Tuesday morning.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office says the child was taken to the hospital, but the boy should be OK as officials tell KBOI 2News he was alert and talking to emergency responders.

Preliminary information indicates the child was riding south on the sidewalk when he darted into the entrance of a Moxie Java. A silver SUV, turning into the coffee shop, hit the child driving at about 5 mph.

The incident occurred on Linder Road near Deer Flat.

The sheriff's office says the driver of the SUV will not be cited for the incident. Kuna Police gave the boy a helmet to wear next time he gets on a bicycle.
