Cascade man stabbed, shot with own gun confronting attacker

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) Police in Nampa say a man who confronted a stranger in the backyard of a friend's house was stabbed and then shot in the leg with his own gun before the attacker ran away.

The 42-year-old Cascade man was taken to the hospital for treatment of what police say are non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday night.

Police are searching for the attacker, who is described as being a white male about 6 feet tall, 260 pounds and wearing a grey, hooded sweatshirt.

Witnesses told police the victim saw a man he didn't know in his friend's backyard and went outside to confront him. They fought and the victim was stabbed. Police say the victim's gun went off during the struggle, but it isn't clear who fired it.
