BPD: Boise man tried to stab woman inside hotel

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 55-year-old Boise man has been booked on allegations that he tried to stab a woman inside a local hotel, officials say.

Boise Police said officers were called out to a hotel on the 2600 block of West Fairview at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday for a disturbance call.

When officers arrived they located a distraught adult female victim near the lobby of the hotel. The victim tells police she had been staying at the hotel with the suspect, Thomas Herman, who is well known to her, and consuming alcoholic beverages.

At one point, the victim tells police the suspect became aggressive, while holding a folding knife the suspect made threats against her life and then attempted to stab her.

The woman managed to get out of the room without getting hurt and waited for police. Herman was taken into custody without incident and the pocket knife was recovered.

Herman has been booked into the Ada County Jail on felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
