Body found in Boise canal

Crews responded to a report of a body in a Boise canal Tuesday morning.

Boise Police officers are investigating after a body was pulled out of a canal near the Boise River.

Crews were dispatched Tuesday morning to a report of a body in a canal just after 8:30 a.m. Investigators say someone spotted the body while headed to work.

When responders arrived on scene they discovered an adult man's body in a canal grate off of State Street in Boise. Crews tried to resuscitate the man, but were unsuccessful.

Officers are actively investigating, but they say they don't see obvious signs of foul play. Investigators do not believe there is a threat to the public, but they are reminding people to be cautious around canals and the Boise River.

Investigators don't know how long the man's body had been in the water, but it doesn't appear to have been a long amount of time. The Boise Police Department says the body is that of a man in his mid-forties. The coroner will release the man's identity after notifying family.
