Bicyclist smashes into vehicle head first, driver takes off

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- Police in Boise are trying to track down the driver of a green Saturn who hit a bicyclist and then took off -- leaving the rider with broken bones in his neck.

Boise PD says the cyclist was traveling eastbound on Hays Street at about 7:20 a.m. when a green Saturn passed him. The driver of the car, however, turned on 10th Street -- directly in front of the cyclist who was on the far right side of the road.

The bicyclist hit the vehicle head first. The driver of the vehicle continued on their way on 10th Street and never stopped.

The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, picked himself up and continued riding on his way to work thinking he was not injured. Later in the morning, however, he started feeling ill and went to seek medical attention. Doctors later told him he had two broken bones in his neck.

The vehicle is described as a green older model Saturn. Anyone with information is asked to call 343-COPS.
