Bicyclist killed in hit and run crash on State Street identified

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The Ada County Coroner's Office has identified the bicyclist who was killed after a hit and run crash Thursday morning.

The coroner says 53-year-old Victor Haskell of Garden City died of blunt force trauma.

Boise Police Haskell was riding his bike on the north side of State Street near North 30th when he was hit by a vehicle. The collision likely occurred in the early morning, prior to sunrise, BPD said in a news release.

At 8:31 a.m. a woman who saw Haskell's body lying in the sidewalk called 911 saying she saw a man lying in the sidewalk.

"I looked over and (saw) a couple of (construction workers) working on the road standing around looking at the concrete forms, and I noticed I saw a foot sticking up, or what I thought was a foot and a bike sitting on the sidewalk," said Ryan Stuard, a construction worker. "About five to 10 minutes later, I saw ambulances, fire truck and police show up."

Officials are now looking for witnesses who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 343-COPS.
