Avalanche 50-feet deep closes Highway 21 near Lowman
IDAHO CITY, Idaho (KBOI) -- A large avalanche has yet again closed a section of Highway 21 just above Lowman, Idaho Transportation Department officials say.
The avalanche is described to be as deep as 50 feet and full of fallen trees, which will slow the clean-up process, ITD said on its Facebook page. It occurred just before Mile Post 100.
The slide occurred in a chute that ITD officials say doesn't normally experience avalanches. It's unclear how long it will take crews to clean up the section of the road because officials have to wait for the area to stabilize.
