'1500 firefighters working towards one goal, to help fight cancer'
NAMPA, Idaho -- Dozens of local firefighters are preparing for a tough climb scheduled for next weekend.
Nampa fire crews will head to Seattle next Saturday to take part in the Scott Firefighter Stair Climb, which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Here in Nampa, participating firefighters like Shawn Mangun have put in extra hours at the gym to prepare for the 69-floor-climb decked out in full fire gear.
"It's an incredible workout it's very powerful, the camaraderie" Mangun said. "1500 firefighters working towards one goal, to help fight cancer ... how moving it is."
