Texas schools combat flu in the classroom

KELLER, TEXAS - Some school districts in north Texas are stepping up their efforts in hopes of containing the flu.

Each day, cleaning crews take over classrooms, wiping tables - chairs - and door knobs.

The district has even brought in extra staff to help clean. and at every campus, if a student shows any signs of the flu -- they are being sent home -- even if it turns out they don't have it.

"We do see that our attendance rates are up I think a lot of that can be attributed to the cleaning practices that we do not just during flu season but year round," said Jerry Leafgreen, Operations Supervisor for the Keller Independent School District.

Parents have noticed the effort and are grateful.
