Truck rolls several times, killing one, injuring two others

CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) -- A Nampa man is dead and two women were rushed to the hospital after crashing on a Canyon County road early Friday morning.

Canyon County deputies said the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. Near the intersection of Orchard Ave and Farmway Road.

Deputies tell KBOI a truck with three people inside was traveling westbound down Orchard Ave. when the driver, Kyle Hartwig, lost control and rolled. The truck flipped several times down the road and came to a stop on a canal bride. Deputies said Hartwig was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

"At this point, we believe alcohol and speed were a factor," Deputy Alan Takeuchi with the Canyon County Sheriff's Office said.

The impact if the crash was huge. The two back tires of the truck fell off and the cab was smashed in. It took crews about three hours to get the area cleaned up and the truck towed away.

There is no word yet on the extent of injuries of the two women who were sent to the hospital.
