Nampa woman devastated after she loses her dad to typhoon
NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - Thousands are feared dead and many more have been injured by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The destruction hits home hard for one Nampa woman that found out Monday that her father is dead.
Shirley Mcalear says her three sisters, one brother and her dad, Oscar, were all hit by the storm and she hadn't heard a thing all weekend. She saw her torn town of Tacloban city on TV. She said one of her brothers had to go out of town and up a hill to get in touch with her, and that's when she found out. "Monday we just heard that my dad was passed away but we could not find the body up to now," Mcalear said.
Oscar's neighbors said her father was gone. She says that not only was her father's house gone but her sisters and her brother lost all their homes as well. She said her family couldn't believe the monster storm. "They said it's really really horrible, it's indescribable. The wind is so strong,"
Now Mcalear is packing and leaving for the Philippines to be with her family and she doesn't know when she's coming back. She knows where ever she goes she already misses her dad. "That's so sad we haven't said bye."
