Mountain West extends tie-in agreements with six bowls

(KBOI) - With conferences and bowl games living in a state of perpetual motion, it's nice to have the stability of knowing where the Mountain West will send their bowl eligible teams.

According to, the Mountain locked up extensions with their six current bowl games through the 2019 season. That includes Bronco Stadium's own Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, which joined the Mountain West tie-in family after the Western Athletic Conference stopped playing football.

Members of Bronco Nation who were hoping the conference might add a tie-in to a higher-profile bowl game are left disappointed. The Las Vegas Bowl will continue to be the Mountain's premier bowl game, and get the first selection of available conference teams.

The Mountain will continue their agreements with the Vegas Bowl, Poinsettia Bowl, Hawai'i Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, and Famous Idaho Potato Bowl through the end of this decade. According to the ESPN story, the Mountain West will consider adding a seventh bowl game in 2014.
