Man dies after being crushed by 50,000-pound steel beam

CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) -- A 53-year-old steel worker from Nampa was killed Wednesday after officials say a 50,000-pound beam fell on top of him.

Deputies say Roy Frasier was moving the steel beam with a forklift at Rule Steel in Caldwell. At some point, the load shifted and deputies say the beam fell off the forklift and pinned him underneath.

The Canyon County sheriff's office says other employees were able to get the beam off Frazier. He died shortly after rescue personnel arrived.

An investigation will be carried out by OSHA or the Idaho Industrial Commission.
