Man demands $200 to return stolen cell phone, BPD says

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- A 34-year-old Boise man has been booked on a felony charge after he allegedly demanded cash after he came in possession of a stolen cell phone.

Boise Police says the victim reported a stolen cell phone to Boise PD Oct. 28. This week, however, officials say the victim was called by Jeremy Johnson of Boise who said he had the stolen phone, but was demanding $200 to return it.

Police said in a news release that the victim then contacted police, who arrested Johnson in an east Boise neighborhood as he was on his way to meet the victim.

Johnson is now charged with grand theft.
