Man busted with fake $5 bills at Nampa store, police say

NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) -- A 37-year-old Nampa man has been busted for allegedly using counterfeit $5 bills at various stores, officials say.

Nampa Police say officers received a call about a customer trying to pass a fake bill on Saturday evening. When police arrived, they found Jason P. Janes had counterfeit bills as well as the supplies to make the fake cash.

Janes admitted to police that he'd been shopping with the fake money for about two weeks. Janes was charged with possession of fictitious bills, possession of counterfeiting apparatus and burglary.

Police believe there's counterfeit money being circulated around town. You're asked to call 465-2257 if you come in contact with the fake money.
