Driver in fatal crash that killed teen girl gets 10 years in prison

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - The driver of a car carrying nine people that crashed late last year, killing one passenger, has been sentenced to prison.

Police say Freddy Quezada sped through the intersection of Orchard and Lake, failing to stop at the stop sign. He then lost control of the car, which went off the north side of the road and started to roll.

The car rolled a few times and came to a rest on its top, sitting at the bottom of a dry canal.

Stephanie M. Rodriguez, 15 of Nampa, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to court records, Quezada was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the vehicular manslaughter conviction. He will have to serve a year and a half before he's eligible for parole.
