Boise woman caught shoplifting, tried to taze employee, BPD says

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- A Boise woman has been arrested after she was caught shoplifting at a local store but later tried to taze a store employee, Boise Police says.

Officers say they were called to a report of a theft at a store on the 8300 block of West Overland on Sunday evening. Store employees say Sierra Maynard, 20, was walking out of the store with merchandise she didn't pay for.

When confronted by police, officers say, she tried to run but was quickly apprehended.

She then, BPD says, whipped out a Tazer type device from her purse and tried to taze the store employee. She then ran from the store. Officers found her hiding in a nearby parking lot.

She's been booked on attempted burglary and using a conducted energy device in the commission of a felony, which are both felonies.
