Boise man raped, suffocated woman with pillow, police say
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A 32-year-old Boise man has been booked into the Ada County Jail on attempted murder and rape charges.
Boise Police says Ryan Kanady raped the woman, who is well known to him, and suffocated her with a pillow until she lost consciousness.
She eventually regained consciousness, BPD says, and managed to lock herself in a bathroom and called 911 for help.
Kenny Sholty is a neighbor who manages a nearby apartment complex. He says Kanady moved in about a year and a half ago, and that since then, neighbors have noticed some changes at the house.
"It just puts everybody on edge, especially with a lot of late traffic they were having there for a while and people telling me about it," Sholty said. "It just makes things uneasy for everybody, but now it's over."
Ryan Kanady was booked at 11:44 a.m. Friday for the two felonies. Kanady is also facing a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge after officials say he failed to obey police commands and had to be forcibly taken into custody.
Police say they are waiting on a search warrant for the house to get more information.
